Brussels Airlines changes hand luggage policy
April 24, 2026
Brussels Airlines is introducing a new basic fare (Economy Basic) on European flights, in which a cabin trolley is no longer included. Only a
small personal item, such as a backpack or laptop bag, remains free of charge.
- Hand luggage (trolley up to 8 kg) can be added from €15 per flight
- Checked baggage remains a paid option
- Test phase launched on selected European routes (since 28 April, for travel from 19 May onwards)
The existing Economy Light fare remains available, but becomes more expensive and continues to include standard hand luggage
Conclusion: a lower entry fare is possible for passengers travelling light, but extra baggage charges are increasingly becoming the norm.
