Ask Walt Disney
April 21, 2020
Did you ever imagine that Walt Disney could help you with a brainstorming session? A brainstorming session can work wonders, whether you want to develop your own original insights or stimulate your colleagues’ creativity. The best results are achieved by following a fixed pattern because this brings structure to the creative process. There are countless ways in which to organise a brainstorming session but this approach will set you on the right track!
Walt Disney was a dreamer but he was also a realist. All his films started out as a fantasy, a dream. Subsequently he examined whether the dream was possible. And he was critical of the execution.
Walt Disney’s vision can be implemented in a brainstorming session with three roles. Every time you consider the issue from a different role:
1) The dreamer
The dreamer lets his fantasy run wild. Sees unprecedented opportunities. Failure is not an option. Anything goes.
2) The realist
The realist wonders how such a dream can be realised. The basic premise is that the dream becomes reality. What do you need to achieve this?
3) The critic
The critic thinks of all the things that can go wrong. Is the idea productive enough? Or is the idea counterproductive? Is it interesting enough?
We wish you the best of luck!
